My first attempt at shooting Emma and Russell’s lovely pair of GSPs ended in disaster as I took a dive into a river with all my photographic gear attached!
A few weeks later and with a brand new camera I was back to Ilkeston to finish off photographing the lovely Otis and Eva. This time things went better, well certainly a lot drier, and I was delighted with the results which can be found in my website gallery.
Having fully tested my camera to a depth of 4 feet in a muddy river I can confirm that ‘weatherproof’ is not the same as total immersion!
Canon UK at Elstree did their best but whilst the 70-200 f2.8L Mk II only needed a decent clean and service (that lens is just about bombproof), the body and the 24-105 f4L were beyond economic repair.
I was in Ilkeston photographing Emma’s lovely pair of GSPs and down by the river when a branch gave way helping me headfirst into a very brown brook! I’m afraid that the shoot was curtailed but now that the insurance has allowed me to replace all my equipment I will be back there to finish the shoot before long.
I am certainly looking forward to seeing these lovely dogs again soon.
